One whole year ago, we expanded our family from 2 to 3 people. This little Jocelyn Johanna Brimhall has been the biggest blessing one parent can ever have. Every day she teaches me that love has no boundaries. My love for her grows and grows every day. I often think "how in the world can I love you more than I already do today" but sure enough the next day she finds a way to show me that I do love her more. When Jon and I got married we dedicated the song "Then" by Brad Paisley as our song. The chorus goes as follows "Now you're my whole life, Now you're my whole world. I just can't believe the way I feel about you girl. Like a river meets the sea stronger than its ever been. We've come so far since that day and I thought I loved you then." Those words right there mean everything to me and I am so happy that I can have a husband and daughter that mean so much to me.
Here are some pictures of our family a year later. Jocelyne has grown into such a great one year old. She was born at 6 pounds 5 oz and is now 21 pounds. She is definitely a mini me when it comes to her build. She is tall and skinny and the doctors always comment on how she probably will never have the baby rolls many babies have because of this. Nothing wrong with having a skinny baby as long as they are well fed and happy :) and trust me this girl definitely is well fed. She eats just like her daddy who always has a good appetite for food. Other than her build she looks nothing like me. The rest of her is definitely her daddy.
Jocelyn is definitely a daddy's girl. It is super fun to see how excited she gets when Jon comes waking through the door after work. She drops everything she is doing and "speed crawls" to him with the biggest smile on her face. They are the best when they play with each other. Jocelyn is constantly laughing and screaming in delight for a good 20 minutes without any silence. Her favorite game to play is peek a boo but she loves to play peek a boo the most when she is on our bed and we hide off the side of the bed.
Jocelyn LOVES bananas, cheese, hot dogs, fruit snacks, and daddys go gurts. Every time Jon gets a go gurt out he makes sure to get 2 because he knows that as soon as he opens it Jocelyn will be right at his side begging for a bite (or more like the whole go gurt). Jocelyn loves to play with our dogs (by play I mean poke their noses and eyes, and pull on their ears and chops) it is such a good thing that we have 3 fantastic and very mellow dogs. Her recent new favorite thing to do with the dogs is put her face right up to their face with her mouth open begging them to lick her in the mouth. SO GROSS I know. KIDS! She also loves playing with our Kitties but she is a little too rough with them since she is used to playing with the dogs. She recently has found that she loves to play in the dogs water bowls when we are outside.
She knows how to wave hello/bye, high five, clap, cover her own eyes when we play peek a boo, dancing, slowly blink her eyes when she is trying to be cute, throwing the ball for the dogs to chase, or throwing the ball for herself to chase, reading books, going on walks, giving loves (hugs) and blowing kisses. When you ask her to give you a kiss she greets you with a great big open mouth kiss.
We love this girl so much and look forward to seeing how much she grows this next year.
Her great grandma Ralph made her this cake so she could play in it.
Bubba and Grandma Rose gave her this Tricycle that has 4 stages to it. eventually she will be able to ride it by herself. And she LOVES the Tricycle! As you can see below.
"Hey guys Check out my new wheels"
Allison gave Jocelyn her first set of car keys!!!! Don't worry they are toy keys that sing. Jocelyn loves to dance along with the songs. Other presents she got but I don't have pictures of are a pink dress with white polka dots from her great aunt norma, some squeezable apple sauce packets from Amanda and Cody, a cute shape shifter barn from her aunt and uncle Beccy and Golden, a super cute tutu skirt from Emma and Grant, and a dress from her Grandma and Grandpa Brimhall.
I made these "ice cream cone" cupcakes for Jocelyn's birthday party in Utah but they kinda failed miserably and I was not very happy. These cones above were the better of the cones we had but a ton of them started to lean over and wilt. I was so upset that they didn't work out because I was dreaming of these amazing looking cupcakes so I decided I was determined to succeed. So I had another small birthday party in Bagdad for friends and family to come and remade the cupcakes. and WALA!!!!!! THEY WORKED!!!!!!
Jocelyn's birthday was super fun to celebrate. Thank you friends and Family for Celebrating with us!!
